The Bataan Death March was a 65 mile march that our troops stationed in the Philippines were forced to hike by the Japanese. The hike was long and hard and it was made with little to no food. Anyone who stopped or asked for anything was shot or beaten to death. New Mexico sent nearly 1800 troops ti Bataan and only 900 came back. New Mexico played an important role in this Battle, even if we did lose.
